’Vicissitude represents death, darkness and decay. We surface to the listener within the realms of Black and Death Metal.
Vile, corrupt and horrific to the masses that they openly scorn. C.S and Vicissitude (NZ) are the epitome of brutal cavernous death metal, that is savage, barbaric and steadfast in their belief and ideal to create music that represents their mayhem.
‘’Vicissitude was forged within the abyssic waste of Wellington in 2016, amidst my previous endeavours with Blood of the Moon which was started by myself and Krigeist in early 2008. Vicissitude was spawned with the urgency to lay ultimate dread, chaos and suffering upon the listener, a demo was released and limited to 40 copies which were given to those true to the path.
It is a raw primeval sound that is more than just pure old school death metal.
‘’Invoking terror within Death Metal and attacking the genre in different ways is always a challenge, it’s hard to craft anything new. Vicissitude is stripping it back to the basics, primitive riffs, war drums and vile vocals is the lore.
Yet it also has a dark atmosphere lurking within
‘’The atmosphere has been created by many associates, everyone who is involved knows their position. All atmospheric peril has been hand recorded in live settings by all of us.
The debut Neolithic Necrocannibals is a statement for the onslaught.
‘’The Neolithic Necrocannibals album is one to be listened to in complete darkness, and in its entirety, to be able to contemplate it. Tracks I til VIII as a whole shall slowly break away at one’s psyche and internally eat away at the imitation of modern society and humanities downfall, a nod to neolithic times as a whole, spiraling endless chaos...

‘’Whilst traveling through Europe in 2024, I contacted Pale Spektre to potentially do a split. We met up in Neudegg Alm and the pakkt was sealed.
A hold over until album number 2.
’The sophomore album is definitely in the works. Writing for this started many months ago, however the process to create something new will take its time. We expect to have our next album ready to record by the end of 2026. Expect the unexpected, as Vicissitude is always evolving.
A primal force of energy, within the music a lingering violence
‘’As a whole the lingering violence comes through as a presence due to a dissolving scene, everything is shit out there. The energy we pursue is to crush the weak and bludgeon your skull, as those born in neolithic times would have done.Something to be embraced rather than hidden.‘’Yes, embrace it. We approve the use of primal force in every aspect.
Lustration is the result of such dark energy.
‘’Lustration in this case is the purification via ritual and sacrifice. An offering which will be consumed by fire, within the gaping maw of a volcano amongst the stench of sulfur and burning coals.
The personal definition of extreme
‘’For our level of extreme, personally I think we define it well. We play Black and Death metal in what manner we can and to its truest form possible. Although not original, we always nod to our fore bearers, be it the likes of Beherit, Archgoat, Blasphemy etc... this shit runs through our veins.
