Reb Bartlett (Guitar) “I had this idea and a vision for band, that happened to be two-piece of guitar and drums, with having a sound, that's all our own and making heavy riffs, that happen to be in Drop B tuning and also, I wanted something, that had the elements of bands that I listen to…. So yes, for my own enjoyment and releasing the music that we make, if people like it, that's cool or if people don't like it, that doesn't make a difference to us as we're still going to play the same style of music.

Sladecreeper is a creation from Reb Bartlett (Guitar) and Zane Green (Drums/Vocals) that epitomises the definition of underground. This is extreme old school death metal the way it has always been intended, raw uncompromising and powerful. their debut album is ''The Battle for The Universe'' that personifies the DIY process of music and the passion for it involved where originality is more important than popularity

‘’ Yes, originality is very important, there comes a point, where you need to stop trying to sound like your favourite bands and start finding your own sound, that will make people go this sound like that band, Sladecreeper or whoever.

Sladecreeper also have different sources of inspiration for their music compared to the Sociopolitical and or gore found in such extreme music

‘’Yes, Inspirations for the Sladecreeper’s songs are from sci-fi & fantasy, Warhammer 40k, I'm just having my own direction to do it my way and using my raw emotion to write riffs, that’s all.

Should Death metal be raw and unfiltered?

Comes down to what you want your vision and the direction to be for your band and that’s something, you must decide for yourself and there's no wrong or right choice, if you want to be technical or if you want to be Raw Power and unpolished, so the decision is completely up to you.

The rawness of your music is part of its immediacy?

‘’Yes, the rawness of our music is a massive part of our sound, as it makes it unique and unpolished, it goes back to the element of Metallica's St Anger, the raw emotion and unpolished heavy sound, that it give, when you listened to it.

Your disdain for the mass market media and the banality that is prevalent within it?

‘’There's nothing really genuine about it, also comes off as fake or people not putting a lot of effort into it and they're not putting their personality into the words that they're using, when they're trying to market whatever.

It’s not music intended for a wide audience or appeal?

‘’Depends on what your goals and aspirations are for your band, as it plays a huge factor in how you go about doing things and how you handle business.

Are there too many clichés in death metal?

‘’I don't really know, as I don't really pay much attention to it, because I'm busy doing my own thing with my band.
