Dark atmospheric pagan Black metal artists Meschera (Мещера) have unleashed their latest offering Ritual. A track that begins with its native group chant and summoning of winters embrace. In this instance the band has fully embraced the roots of the inno-Ugric tribe whilst being able to continue the delicate balance between the traditional and the modern. It is a heavy vocal offering and as always, the evocative and commanding voice of Alexandra Sidorova is able to summon nature’s wrath with powerful chants and soar above the heavens with a soft folk presence. The latter part rages with pure black metal fury, the blast beats courtesy of Svyatoslav Krekov the perfect crescendo, to a dynamic performance that evokes a purely physical response, there is no doubt this will be a feature of future live shows.
Sisters is a vibrant collaboration with fellow countrymen Grai featuring the vocals of Irina Zybina. It is a partnership that works on every level. The dual vocals that soar over the top of one of the heavy rhythm sections that is supremely fast and blessed with some excellent Double kick work.
The gentle bridge allows the traditional instrumentation and vocals to truly shine before it returns to modern extreme mayhem. It is an excellent performance that showcases the talent and diversity of both artists, the tale of revenge in a song that reflects the musical creativity being able to capture both the softer moments and the harsher, the solo is simply manic and the result is vital, dynamic and exciting.
