Tir – Vengeance/ Possessed 8.5/10
Tir is the creation of solo instrumentalist Oytun Bektas. A progener of the modern dungeon synth movement. With over fifteen releases in ten years, it is an accomplished body of work that is rich and sweeping with its textures that is vivid and emotive. Tir’s latest release are the Vengeance and Possessed singles.
Vengeance is a slowly building crescendo born of dread and darkness, its horn like bellows of dread an ominous foreshadowing of a track that continues to build with its choral flourishes that result in something truly special, its repeated refrains fully developed and explored in depth to create a piece of art rich in a mediaeval tapestry that conjures vivid images, the keyboards lush in their instrumentation and subtleties.
Possessed is a lengthier deeply engaging piece of work, its lavish melodies created around revolving dynamics that ebb and evolve within the track, it is epic and cinematic in its feeling and depth, the score to an unseen film where it is all about the journey and conquest, a silent strength that is reminiscent of the more symphonic elements found within black metal.

Both Vengeance and Possessed are pure Tir, with its profound connection to nature and the past that is deeply sumptuous, romantic and engaging, carrying with it a sense of power and maturity creating a sonic tapestry that is a highlight within the genre
