‘’Léan is my debut as a composer. The idea of a separate project for my music came to me back in 2018, while I was bored during a hospital stay, though the very first song I wrote there won't be featured on the upcoming album.
‘’Originally, Léan was conceived around the theme of flora, but I decided to give the project more creative freedom, and that idea became secondary.
Lorelei Ether is the composer, clean vocalist, keyboardist, and the leader of the duo known as Léan. A musical ideal that is intensely personal traversing the spectrum of music and al its extremes. It is a genreless offering that encapsulates many elements form the beauty of gothic and symphonic to the harrowing intensity of depressive black metal.
‘’Yes, it is quite different from all of my other projects. But my primary idea was to make the music I like the most. I didn't care about genre boundaries, and I didn't want my music to fit perfectly with DSBM, which I love so much. I just wanted to create something I would enjoy listening to myself.

‘’We can't give you any teasers to listen to yet, but I can tell you more about it. The first thing I should say — it's going to be very different from Desuetude. It is heavier, richer, more complex, more peculiar, and more unique. You'll find many fresh ideas there, as well as hints of all my favourite bands' music.

‘’The album turned out as it should have, because we don't think in terms of styles — we think in terms of music. It doesn't matter to us how many styles we mix; the only thing we care about is the music of the resulting compositions.
The juxtaposition of darkness and light and its importance to your music
‘’To be honest, we didn't intend such a juxtaposition. In this music, there is a symbiosis between darkness and light, though the darkness prevails.
The presence of hope inside the melancholy
‘’Personally, I think there is a bitter hope in this music. In the single, melancholy feels nice and comforting, but in the upcoming album, in one of my favourite songs, melancholy is something one nervously jokes and laughs about. Irony over melancholy is my favourite melodic motif.
The plans for Léan.
‘’I don't believe there are going to be any live performances. Since the guitars were written by me, there's no way the music can be played with fewer than three guitars — that's a little problem xD
‘’But we will continue releasing albums of unique and peculiar music that will hopefully find a place in listeners' hearts.
The importance of presenting a true expression of oneself through art.
‘’I don't think it's really important — it's just inevitable. I love DSBM because I can resonate with the pain of the music's creators and feel that I'm not alone. Personally, I present my craziness and strangeness in Léan's music, and I hope that melodic gourmets will find it interesting.
