Euphrosyne have created their debut masterwork Morus. Its themes of loss, pain, and redemption, are inspired by guitarist Alex Despotidis' personal tribulation through grief following the loss of his mother to cancer. It is a journey that involves acceptance and final journey to the Asphodel Meadows—the section of the ancient Greek underworld where most souls are believed to reside after death.  It is raw, uncompromising, emotional and incredibly intense and quite the musical progression from their debut EP Keres

‘’It’s what we believe. We think that through Morus we matured both musically and as people as we honestly expressed things that we experienced, and it was a difficult task.

Was it intentional to be bolder and more experimental, yet still have that heavy edge to it?

‘’All the compositions came spontaneously and nothing was intentional. It all comes from the different music genres we listen to and the way we want to combine them to express exactly what we feel inside.

The decision to create such a personal concept album?  My condolences she must have been such a very special person to cause such inspiration.

‘’The decision to release such a personal album came spontaneously from both of us (Efi & Alex), as it was weighing heavily on us, and we wanted to cast it out. Losing both of your parents in such a short space of time and at such a young age is quite difficult.

Was it hard to convey and interpret a very personal feeling with the lyricism? Is there where the turmoil of the music comes into play?

‘’If something is so deep and true inside you, it tends to come out one way or another. So, the real difficulty is not in writing the lyrics but in facing these feelings and trying to calm them down every time you stir them up.

Eulogy and Funeral rites must have been incredibly hard to create? Did it feel like a release when complete almost cathartic?

‘’The entire album functioned as an atonement and redemption for us. We brought out feelings that we had buried long ago but couldn't keep up without expressing them. That's worse than capturing them in music and lyrics.

The vocal performance is so intrinsically linked and demanding. How does one put such feelings into words when so many cant?

‘’We believe that every person who expresses themselves through music and uses it as an escape, not just thinking of it as a job, is honestly expressing what they feel. Τhat's the magic.

The loss of loved ones affects everybody eventually, why is it so hard for people to talk about?

‘’Everyone experiences loss differently. Some want to express themselves openly and others don't. Human psychology is a “complex entity” and operates individually.

Morus is part of the healing process but also creating awareness that whilst emotions are intensely personal, we are never alone?

‘’We believe that when you share common experiences and feelings with others, you are less alone.

Is music part of that process?

‘’Sure, it is. Music is one of the greatest remedies.

What happens after everything ends? Both in the real world and in the spiritual?

‘’Who really knows? Maybe there is the freedom and redemption we seek and on the other side is absolute nothingness.

‘’Is your music something that could be defined as how much you put yourself and emotions into rather than a genre?

We strongly believe that! That’s why we don't want to put labels on things like that.

Final thoughts?

‘’Even in the darkest and most silent periods of our lives, there is always a small hope for life and continuity. Art is the greatest escape from all the troubles of the world.
