Antefȳr - ''Music is an extension of who I am''

Described as blackened bloodshed Antefȳr is the creation of Annihilator (vocals/drums). The debut release is “Morte Refecta Sua” an unrelenting, unrepentant piece of savage art that is brief and tumultuous, filled with aggression and violence, capturing the essence of black metal and creating something unique.
How was Antefȳr Created? Does it have a connection to the Ancient Fire?
‘’-The Indignation from a tumultuous ending with my previous band turned out to be the fuel needed to pursue my own musical pursuits.
‘’I never intended to release the initial EP as a solo artist and always had intention to find band-mates, but along with that not happening, it turned out to be necessary, maintaining integrity for an undiluted result.
‘’Antefȳr (pronounced Aahn-yeh-fear) like most of the other conceptual aspects came slowly through channeling, and yes, directly translates to ancient fire.
Your release Morte Refecta Sua. What does it represent?
‘’I used the phoenix as as an underlying theme to lyrical concepts I had already begun writing as far back as 2022, to provided structure and condense what was originally 6-8 tracks into just three tracks; covering the cyclical nature of the phoenix.
‘’Sacra Carnage being destruction, Sekhem transformation, and Immolation//ressurection death//rebirth.
‘’The phrase “Morte Refetacta Sua” was found through one of my many readings/research, translating to “renewed from her own death”.
It is quite primal and visceral. What inspired it?
‘’Many things inspire, but primarily I would say my day to day life, experiences, and the way I experience the world, as music is an extension of who I am.
Does it represent the idea to create something new?
‘’Perhaps in the sense that re-birthing is part of the cyclical nature of the human experience, repeating time again through our lifetimes as we evolve.
Does it create a ritual? And the importance of it both musically and ideologically?
‘’I think you’d have to transfer this question to the listeners.
‘’The viewers will connect and resonate with it, or simply pass upon and forget about it.
‘’As this was my first record, I’m yet to find out how it’s been received.
‘’In terms of ritual I have my own day to day practices (some may refer to as rituals) which automatically transfer into how I convey what I need to, as music is symbiotic to me and how I operate.
The exploration of darkness is not something to be feared?
‘’Of course not. Life is polarity and everything is simultaneously light and dark.
''As a species we generally fear what we don’t understand.
''Plenty of things perceived as “dark” are either simply culturally different or the shadow we suppress.
Is Black metal the only possible outlet for your artistic expression?
‘’For now it is the only expression.
‘’I have tried other avenues and all ended up suppressed and or squashed out by others fear.
‘’Black metal at the moment is the only avenue that both musically interests me and seems to the one of the only corners that still has sub-cultures tucked away from the mass popularity of the genre that is managing to keep the walls up from insane outsiders attempting to change everything black metal is about for their own selfish ideological desires which currently focus on extreme suppression under the guise of pseudo political ideological virtue signalling.
‘’It’s simply 90’s Christianity rebranded-branded, and run by yuppies cosplaying poor people.
‘’We will always find a place away from the masses to express in an undiluted and visceral manner, while they have their tantrums elsewhere, lying to themselves of their superiority and morality complex.
What does extreme music make you feel?
‘’That is entirely dependant on the artist I’m listening to.
‘’Each artist brings a unique soundscape creating a varied landscape, and can bring out an entirety of differing emotion depending on the artist chosen.
Do you define your music as how much one puts themselves into their art honestly and fearlessly?
‘’I’m not sure what you mean to “define”.
‘’My general opinion, is that any worthwhile and memorable artist/musician is authentic. If I think to any of the greats who’ve inspired me to become who I need to be or have shaped me; they have emulated no-one or talents were authentic enough to do something we hadn’t yet seen or had re-delivered in such a way that we could appreciate as an entirely new experience.
Where does Antefȳr progress from here?
‘’The follow-up to Morte Refecta Sua has very slowly been in the works with material continuing on from the EP that had always been intended to be used as a follow up.
‘’The next record will commence without hesitation, once I’m aligned with a writer/guitarist who is aligned with the creation of the next record which will be the first full-length.
Is the creation of music a continual one?
‘’Yes.

''Couldn’t possibly pick of all time. There are too many influential albums and too many many genres, so these are just 6 from the current/regular black metal rotation.
